Pre Job Shadow Post 12/1/11
For my job shadow i am following the local Game and Fish worker Chris Queen. I left him a message last night and he didn't call back so i am going to try and call him today but what i expect in this job shadow is that we will probably go up to the mountains. We will probably look for maybe some violations on christmas tree cutting but hopefully we can get some animal violations. The average yearly salary of a WY Game and Fish agent is about $50,000.

VOCABULARY-
Economic Index- Statistical measure of changes in a representative group.
*The economic index is very good today.
Depreciation- Decrease in values of assets
*The car has a depreciation rate as soon as you drive it off the lot.
Gross Margin- Difference between revenue and costs before accounting for other certain accounts.
* The gross margin this year was bad because we lost money.
Earnins Per Share- earnings per each outstanding share.
* The earnings per share on walmart stock is going up.
JOURNAL-
This week the 2 stocks that i decided to trade are Nike (NKE) and Pfizer (PFE.) First we will talk aboout Nike. The 52 week information for Nike is 69.43-97.68. Currently it is trading at $95.17 per share. I bought 50 shares of it. Since it is close to its 52 week high i believe that i am going to sell it now. Some competitors of Nike are Champion (CHMP.) They make shoes and also they make athletic clothing. So they are strictly just not shoes. I believe Nike is a better company to invest in because they also make all kinds of sports shoes so people are buying them every time of the year. The other company that i bought Pfizer (PFE) i just typed in p in the symbol lookup and clicked on it and bought some shares of it. I didn't even do any research on it. The 52 week information for Pfizer is 16.42-21.45. Right now it is selling at $19.89 per share. I traded 50 stocks at $19.00 per share. I did do some research on this stock and what it is is the largest research based pharmeceutical company. And i think that i will sell it soon since it is getting towards the 52 week high. So pretty much these stocks were both trades.

60 Minutes Blog Post 11/21/11
1) What is your opinion of the topic of the video?
Personally my opinion is that it is almost like cheating. I don't like it one bit. All these people are doing is making money for themselves and not worrying about other people. Because they can make the laws and they can make them so it is an advantage towards their stocks.
2) What can you do about your opinion? How can you make your opinion count?
What you can do about your opinion is that you could take it to a court house or even go talk to congress when they are holding a meeting. You could make your option count maybe if we all signed a petition or something like that. Maybe we could go on a riot :)
3) What is insider trading? What was information that caused Martha Stewart to go to prison?
Insider trading is the trading of a corporations stock By individuals with potential access To non public information that the public can not see. The information that caused Martha Stewart to go to jail was that she was lying to officials about insider trading that was going on. And had she not lied she would not have went to prison.
4) What is Black Friday and when did it get its name? What is cyber Monday?
Black Friday is The day following thanksgiving And traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. Black Friday got its name because in Philadelphia It was originally used to describe The heavy and disruptive pedestrian And vehicle traffic. Cyber Monday is A marketing term used for the Monday after black Friday. It is one of the most busiest online shopping days.

JOURNAL-
2 transactions that i decided to make this week was that i decided to sell 2 stocks that i had previously bought. The first one that i chose to sell was Randgold resources (GOLD.) It's 52 week information was 70.18-120.73. Right now it is currently selling at 113.53. I bought this as a investment because it was constantly going up and when i had it it went all the way up to 119 per share and i was gonna hold onto it for a bit longer and see if it was going to go up but then it dropped down to 118 something per share and i sold it. Another stock that i chose to sell was Sirius Radio. I sold this because right now it is currently trading at 1.83 per share. I bought it while it was selling at 1.81 per share and i bought it as a trade because there was supposed to be a new technology coming out and i thought it was going to skyrocket. It's 52 week information is 1.27-2.44. At one point when i had this stock it was selling for 1.86 per share and i was thinking about selling it then but i took a risk on it and held onto it for a bit longer and i sold it for 1.81 per share which i pretty much made even on the stock.

Candy Stocks 11/15/11
Yesterday (Monday) in Free Enterprise it was very hectic. As soon as Mr. Kapptie opened the door we walked into a room full of candy all over the tables and all over the floor. And then on the wall and some computer screens he had little short videos of the actual stock market people that people have recorded. He then said there was candy amounts on the whiteboards and when he said go we started picking candy up. The videos on the wall and computer screen were to actually make it seem like we were in the stock market exchange. Then he said go and everyone started grabbing candy off of the floor. After about 1 minute all the candy was gone and all the teams had their piles of candy. Then he wrote on the board what the candy bars were trading for and said start trading. People started trading their candy bars and about every 5 minutes he would change the price for the candy bars so it was actually like the stock market. Then about every 13 minutes he would announce that a company had went bankrupt or something happened to that company so that it either dropped in price or raised in price. Then after about 30 minutes of trading he turned on the lights and said count how much money you guys all have. So every one added up all of their candy and we only had about 3,000 dollars while the winning team had about $9,500. Then he said everyone can take a few pieces of candy like two pieces and eat them. Then we all said one word that described how it was in that room while trading the candy and then we left.

Game Standards 11/8/11
3.2 Students Formulate Solutions To Economic Problems-
The game "My Country" applies to this standard in many ways. The first way that it applies to this is when i tried to buy a factory that had a certain amount of ecopower that i used to have. So therefore i had to purchase more trees and shrubs. Another way that this game applies to that standard is that I decided to build about 6 buildings without thinking about it and right now i need a certain person to hire so that building can go into business. Therefore my buildings are just sitting around not doing anything right now. But one way that i noticed that DOES NOT apply to this game is that their is a neighboring country made by Mary and each day you can go into her country and "help" her get some money and XP points.
3.1 Students Explain How Different Economic Systems Are Organized For Production, Distribution, and Consumption of Goods And Services-
My country applies to this standard by many ways. First off say you buy a shoe factory or any kind of factory. First off you have to build the factory first which will most likely take a while since it is a big building. Then it says you have to hire certain people like a mechanic or a driver. And then once you do that it will take the products out and sell them and you will make money. A good example of this on the game is a bus station. First off you have to build the station first. Then after that you have to hire some bus drivers and also buy some buses. Therefore the bus station will start up and people will start getting on it and spending money to use the local bus.
3.4 Students Demonstrate An Understanding of Economic Prinicples That Influence Individual Financial Planning-
My country applies to this standard because say i wanted to build a business or a company then i better have the money to make it. Or say someday i become a president (which is very unlikely.) Then i know to sometimes lower what happens in the city and then just sit there and make more money. Also if i was starting a business i would know to make sure i can get the employees before i start building the building. Because i was not getting the house keys at all and i need those in order to hire the Rental Agent. I have about 7 buildings that need him so that they can be built. So right now those buildings were kind of a waste of space and even a waste of money.
4.3 Students Evaluate the Impact Of Technology and How It Has Shaped History and Influenced the Modern World-
The technology use in the game My Country has shaped the world because of the technology of windmills. They create energy which can help build buildings and use tools. More technology that they have in this game is the Solar Panels which will absorb the sun and then create energy. For example you have to have a certain amount of energy to build some buildings.
4.2 Students Analyze Current Events To Better Understand The World In Which They Live-
This applies to this game because obviously U.S.A. is in a recession right now. So they can't just afford to buy electricity or anything like that. So they usually set up windmills and then therefore they can derive the power from the windmills around them or close to them. Also it shows that the businesses that put out more money they will make more buildings and take up more space. So somewhat it is like Darwins Theory which is the strongest survive.
4.4 Students Explain How Past Events Impact Present and The Future-
This applies to this game because say you spend alot of money on one building then your gonna have a slow recovery rate and you will have to wait a while to make your money back. Another way that it applies to this is say you buy a company way back then and you do not have the proper person then that building will sit around and waste space and then you have to buy more land to build more buildings.
5.1 Students Interpret Charts, Maps, and Graphs to Answer Questions Dealing With People, Places, Events or Environments-
This applies to this game because in order to get higher eras it brings up a chart where it tells you how much people you have to have in that city so that you can level up. Another way is that it will tell you about how much energy you need so therefore you will have to build more windmilss or solar panels. Also another way it applies to this game is you have to look at the people you need and then it gives items that they have to have in order to be able to work so therefore you got to look for which building you should build or which ones you should upgrade.
5.3 Students Demonstrate an Ability to Organize and Process Information About People, Places, and Environments-
This applies to this game in a major way. For example you need to organize all of your buildings so that you can fit them into the space that you have because eventually in this game your going to have to buy more land so you can expand your country. Also you need to be able to know how your environment is doing such as energy and economy because sometimes you have to have a certain economic number yo be able to build a building or anything.
