Candy Stocks 11/15/11

Yesterday (Monday) in Free Enterprise it was very hectic. As soon as Mr. Kapptie opened the door we walked into a room full of candy all over the tables and all over the floor. And then on the wall and some computer screens he had little short videos of the actual stock market people that people have recorded. He then said there was candy amounts on the whiteboards and when he said go we started picking candy up. The videos on the wall and computer screen were to actually make it seem like we were in the stock market exchange. Then he said go and everyone started grabbing candy off of the floor. After about 1 minute all the candy was gone and all the teams had their piles of candy. Then he wrote on the board what the candy bars were trading for and said start trading. People started trading their candy bars and about every 5 minutes he would change the price for the candy bars so it was actually like the stock market. Then about every 13 minutes he would announce that a company had went bankrupt or something happened to that company so that it either dropped in price or raised in price. Then after about 30 minutes of trading he turned on the lights and said count how much money you guys all have. So every one added up all of their candy and we only had about 3,000 dollars while the winning team had about $9,500. Then he said everyone can take a few pieces of candy like two pieces and eat them. Then we all said one word that described how it was in that room while trading the candy and then we left.
